Grades 7-12

• Double Infractions for grades 7th-11th begin on Monday.

• Waivers for the J.V. & Varsity volleyball camp are due back to the desk today.

• Macon Road will be offering a basketball camp for those entering the 7th-9th grade next year. Waivers are available at the desk and on-line. They are due back next Thursday, May 24th.

• J.V. & Varsity volleyball rosters will be posted next week.

• There will be a uniform fitting for J.V. and Varsity Cheerleaders on May 23rd at 3:15 p.m. in T104.

• Senior Graduation will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the East Campus. Doors for family and relatives will open at 1:15 p.m. and for friends and students at 1:30 p.m. Dress code for grades 7-11 is Sunday Dress Code. Students are not allowed to bring noise makers or cheer when graduates names are being read. Students who act inappropriately will be asked to leave the ceremony.

• Honor Society members will be helping with graduation tomorrow. Members need to arrive by 1:00 p.m. and plan to stay until around 5:30 p.m. A memo will be distributed to give specific responsibilities.

• Pre-season information forms for all fall sports (football, volleyball, & cross country) are available at the desk and on-line.

• Waivers for the Concordia summer football camp are due back today. The $50 deposit is due at this time as well.

• This is a reminder that all detentions are required to be served before the end of the school year. Students need to serve every Tuesday and Thursday until the end of the school year. Detentions will also be served from 12:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, and Thursday, May 24.

Grades 4-6

• If you are planning on turning in any box tops, they must be turned in by today.

East Campus 4th-12th Grade Student Announcements

Elementary (4th-6th)
1. The May Memo is posted on the website.

2. All library books are due on May 18.

3. Miss Black will be offering volleyball camp this summer from July 23 to July 27 for girls entering 4th-6th grade. Girls interested in playing must turn in the registration form to the receptionist's desk by 3:30 p.m. today.

4. Macon Road will be offering an elementary basketball camp from July 9-13. Students interested in playing need to return the waiver by May 24.

Secondary (7th-12th)
1. All library books are due today.

2. This is a reminder that all detentions are required to be served before the end of the school year. Students need to serve every Tuesday and Thursday until the end of the school year. Detentions will also be served from 12:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, and Thursday, May 24. Detentions may also be served during Saturday school if the student is not already scheduled to serve Saturday School. Saturday School will be served tomorrow from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

3. This summer Macon Road will be offering a volleyball camp for girls' entering the 7th-12th grade for the 2012-13 school year. The camp will be run by Coach Rob Paddock. The first three days of the camp (July 23-25) will be open to any 7th-12th grade girl interested in attending. The weeklong camp (July 23-27) is only available for those who make the volleyball team in the spring.

4. There will be a uniform fitting for J.V. and Varsity Cheerleaders on May 23 at 3:15 p.m. A memo will be distributed today regarding this event.

5. Fall Sports signup sheets are posted in the hallway. Students who plan to tryout are required to sign up on the signup sheets.

7. Review for exams continue today. Exams begin on Tuesday. The exam schedule can be found in the May Memo posted on our website. It is also posted in the hallway.

Doors for family and relatives will open at 1:15 p.m. and for friends and students at 1:30 p.m. Dress code for grades 7-11 is Sunday Dress Code. For boys, that is a shirt and tie with dress pants. For ladies, that is a nice dress or skirt to the top of the knee with appropriate, modest top.

9. There will be Spring Football today.

10. Macon Road will be offering a basketball camp from July 9-13. Students interestetd in need to turn in the waiver by May 24.

Congratulations to the Varsity Soccer Team for winning 2nd place in the TAACS State Soccer Tournament.

Football Memo

Re: Spring Football

Football season is right around the corner! Well, maybe it is a few months away, but we are busy planning for the upcoming season. Spring football practice dates have been set and we are looking forward to profitable training sessions this summer, in anticipation of the finishing of the field house on the East Campus. It is time for all current and potential Varsity football players to come out and catch this FOOTBALL FEVER!

Spring football practices are set for the following dates, from 3:45-5:45 p.m. on the East Campus:

Thursday 5/3 Friday, 5/4
Monday, 5/7 Thursday, 5/10
Monday, 5/14 Tuesday, 5/15 Thursday, 5/17 Friday, 5/18
Monday, 5/21 Tuesday, 5/22

The first two practices will be without pads; however, please plan to stay a little later on Tuesday, 5/4, to check out your equipment. Spring football does not have a fee attached to it. The school provides practice pants, practice jersey, game pants, game jerseys, shoulder pads, and helmets. Players are responsible for all other equipment. We will do two days of conditioning and technique training before any contact drills or plays are run.

In addition to spring practices, we are planning to continue having summer practice sessions as well. With the completion of the field house near, we will be able to have more productive practice sessions than any time in past seasons.
Attendance at these summer workouts are essential to your growth as a player and the overall success of our team.

We have traveled to Seward, Nebraska the past two summers to participate in the Concordia University football camp. We are again planning on this trip this year. This trip is scheduled for July 14-18, 2012. More information will be coming home soon; however, we wanted you to be aware of the cost of this trip, which is about $250. You will also need meal money for the five days we are gone.

This past season, we had the opportunity to close out the football season by attending the NACA football championship in Dayton, Tennessee. We are planning to attend again this year, as it was a wonderful spiritual experience for those that were in attendance last year. This trip will cost about $200 around the end of the regular season. So we will be in the TAACS playoffs and the NACA tournament again this year.

I strongly encourage any young men currently in the eighth through eleventh grade to come out to Spring practice and see what exciting new things we have planned. Football is an amazingly fun sport that will afford you skills, abilities, and memories that can last you a lifetime! We work hard and we have fun doing it.

Box Tops

Just a reminder that our Box Tops for Education and Campbell's Labels for Education campaign is in full swing. Macon Road is considered a top performing school thanks to your faithful participation!

Hundreds of General Mills products contain the Box Tops for Education logo. We also participate in the Campbell's Labels for Education drive. Please clip, trim, save and send these to school in a plastic zip bag. The box tops earn $.10 each, and they add up quickly. In May 2011, we sent in 19,000 box tops earning $1,900.00!! The labels are collected and redeemed for items used in the classrooms.

Please remind family members and friends who might not have school aged children to save these for you so that we might exceed the funds raised in previous years!
